A Firmer, Flatter Chest
For men, a muscular chest has been touted as the ideal. And while for some men, that is achievable through exercise and a healthy diet, others are plagued by a less flattering shape. If you have struggled to develop a firm chest, you may suffer from a condition called gynecomastia — over-developed or enlarged male breasts. This condition can occur at any age, but it typically first appears during puberty.
Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair your self-confidence. Some men may even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy simply to hide their condition. Concerned parents of boys report that their sons wear multiple layers of T-shirts to hide their chest, change their clothes in the bathroom stall instead of in the locker room, and often refuse to take their shirts off in public.
Can you reduce male breast size without surgery?
Gynecomastia cannot be resolved through diet and exercise programs, but it can be resolved with surgery.
How can a man reduce his breasts?
The corrective procedure for gynecomastia is a male breast reduction. This is performed through a combination of liposuction contouring and removal of excess glandular breast tissue with a small incision under each nipple. The result is a contoured, more masculine chest with minimal scarring.
Is male breast reduction permanent?
When extra fat and glandular breast tissue are removed during this procedure, they are gone forever. Fat cells and tissues cannot “grow back.” However, weight gain can cause remaining fat cells in the area to increase in size. The best method of maintaining the results of your surgery is to be consistent with your diet and exercise.
How long is the recovery from a male breast reduction?
After surgery, a compression vest is worn for about two to three weeks, and most patients can resume all activities and exercise within four weeks.

Here are some of the frequently asked questions we have answered for our patients over the years:
Even asking this question may be difficult for some men. Most men can reduce the amount of fat on the chest with weight loss. But if you are suffering from more than extra fat in the chest area, or diet and exercise have not worked, you will need a surgical solution. A male breast reduction is a two-part treatment that reduces fat through liposuction and the removal of excess glandular breast tissue, which is responsible for the enlarged appearance of the area.
When a man is suffering from gynecomastia — over-developed or enlarged male breasts — the only way to truly reduce the size of the breast tissue is through surgery. Although weight loss can help reduce fat, it will not affect the breast tissue. Male breast reduction surgery is your answer here, and it will give you a flatter, more toned look.
Again, without surgery, you may be able to decrease fat in the area if you lose weight or build muscle through exercise. But if you have a condition of over-developed breast tissue, you will not be able to achieve the results you are looking for without breast reduction surgery.
